The Kozhikode district, situated in northern Kerala, where the administration on Thursday the 21 September 2023, lifted Nipah restrictions imposed as part of containment zones in nine village panchayats after no fresh cases of Nipah virus were reported. So far, the majority of the high-risk contacts of the six infected people have been identified and their samples have tested negative for Nipah virus as per the Kerala Health Department. No case has so far been reported from other districts in Karaka or any other States in India, including the Ernakulam District, located in the middle of Kerala State, where the XVI Agricultural Science Congress is being organized from 10 to 13 October 2023.
